Dental Crowns & Bridges in Kurukshetra — Restore Strength and Appearance

A crown is a custom cap covering a damaged or root-treated tooth — restoring its shape, strength, and function. A bridge spans a gap left by a missing tooth, anchored to adjacent teeth. Both are matched precisely to your natural tooth colour.

Quick Facts

Custom MadeEach crown or bridge is individually fabricated to match your natural teeth exactly
Strong MaterialsZirconia and porcelain-fused-to-metal options — strength and aesthetics balanced
Protects Weak TeethEssential after root canal treatment to prevent tooth fracture
Fixed SolutionUnlike dentures — crowns and bridges are permanently fixed in your mouth
Crowns

When Is a Crown Needed?

A crown is recommended when a tooth is too damaged for a filling to reliably restore it.

🔬
After root canal treatment

A root-treated tooth loses its blood supply and becomes brittle. A crown protects it from fracture — without one, the tooth is likely to crack.

💔
A tooth too broken for a filling

When decay or fracture has destroyed too much tooth structure for a filling to hold reliably, a crown reconstructs the entire visible tooth.

🔧
A large old filling at risk

Old large fillings can weaken the surrounding tooth structure. A crown placed over the tooth protects it from breaking.

🌑
A severely discoloured tooth

Crowns can cover teeth that are too discoloured or misshapen to improve with whitening or bonding.

⚠️
A cracked tooth

A crown holds a cracked tooth together and prevents the crack propagating — a fractured tooth may otherwise need extraction.

Bridges

When Is a Bridge Used?

A bridge replaces a missing tooth without an implant — anchored to the teeth on either side.

🔗
A missing tooth in the smile zone

A bridge fills a gap with a fixed, non-removable replacement — anchored to the adjacent teeth with crowns.

⏱️
When an implant is not feasible

If bone density or health issues make an implant unsuitable, a bridge may be the most appropriate fixed option.

💰
Lower initial cost than implant

A bridge is completed in fewer appointments and at lower initial cost than an implant — though the long-term calculus differs.

⚠️
Important consideration

Bridges require grinding down healthy adjacent teeth to use as anchors. If those teeth are completely healthy, an implant is the more conservative long-term option — Dr. Sobti will discuss both.

The Process

Crown & Bridge Procedure

Typically 2–3 appointments.

01
Assessment & Preparation

The tooth is examined and prepared — reshaped to allow the crown to fit over it. A local anaesthetic ensures this is comfortable.

02
Impression

A precise impression is taken and sent to the laboratory. A temporary crown is placed while your permanent one is being made.

03
Fitting

The permanent crown or bridge is checked for fit, bite, and appearance — adjusted as needed before being permanently cemented.

💡

Materials: Zirconia crowns are the current gold standard — strong enough for molars, white enough for front teeth, and requiring less tooth reduction than older options. Dr. Sobti will advise on the best material for each tooth's position and function.

FAQs

Crowns & Bridges — Questions

How long do crowns last?
+
Typically 10–20 years with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups. Zirconia crowns are particularly durable. The underlying tooth still needs to be kept clean — decay at the crown margin is the most common reason crowns need replacement.
Is the crown procedure painful?
+
No — local anaesthesia ensures tooth preparation is comfortable. Mild sensitivity after temporary crown placement is normal and resolves once the permanent crown is fitted.
Crown or implant — which is better for a missing tooth?
+
An implant is generally the better long-term option as it preserves the jawbone and does not require preparing adjacent teeth. A bridge is appropriate when an implant is not feasible or when the adjacent teeth already need crowns. Dr. Sobti will discuss what is right for your specific situation.
